Supervisors (Leaders of teams) are trained to think that something is better than nothing. This is true, but only if it is real, a real something. Fake somethings fail to create progress and they can numb the leader and his/her team to the possibility of real striving.
If you fill your days with enough fake activity you will find yourself in a situation where you fail to make any meaningful progress. This can cause a lack of productivity and exhaustion.
Doing nothing, in contrast, can be restorative. It fosters the urge to do real somethings, rather than doing fake somethings. Avoid draining away opportunities, take a deep breadth, and do nothing before you do fake somethings.
